Macos Sierra Installer And Disk Creator Download: Tips and Tricks for a Successful Installation

The macOS Sierra installer will start automatically when the download is complete. Do not continue with the installation as prompted by the installer. Instead, quit the installer. If you allow the installer to run, you will need to re-download it.

Once the installer is downloaded, it is automatically put in the Applications folder. Once the installer is run, it will ask if you want to delete it. (Hint, open the Applications folder and Sort by Size. It should be at the top of the list.)

You may need to reboot the Mac after you have downloaded the new (and valid certificate) installer application, particularly if you had already launched a version that showed the application damaged error message.

If you do not download new versions of these macOS installer applications, you are likely to encounter the error messages for each release if you attempt to open or use the MacOS installer, or even a USB boot drive created with one of the expired installers:

I HIGHLY recommend to everyone that they always download the installer for every macOS version regardless of whether they plan to use it. Then, copy that installer to a safe place outside of /Applications so that Apple, in all its wisdom, does not delete it for you. I got severely stung back with Leopard/Snow Leopard in that I could not upgrade Leopard to the current version without first upgrading to Snow Leopard, which the Apple Store did not carry anymore (they directed me to a third part vendor). I ended up buying Snow Leopard from a Mac specialty store.

You need to re-download the MacOS High Sierra installer to fix the error message about it being damaged, there is no manual way of updating the certificate. I personally wonder how Apple got in this situation.

Same error message in Terminal when trying to create a USB installer from the file downloaded from the Sierra link provided. No problem creating the same with El Capitan installer file. Also got error when trying to build a Sierra installer with Install Disk Creator app.

Two things spring to mind and neither are good. The Sierra Installer is corrupt and needs to re-downloaded a fresh with notation to use Safari as Other may not work. Further to Sierra on link supplied is " Safari downloads the following older installers as a disk image named InstallOS.dmg or InstallMacOSX.dmg. Open the disk image, then open the .pkg installer inside the disk image. It installs an app named Install [Version Name]. Open that app from your Applications folder to begin installing the operating system." Then try the Bootable Installer via Terminal

AFAIK the macOS 10.12 Sierra installer is broken when it comes to creating a bootable macOS 10.12 USB installer since Apple decided to hide the download link for the last year or two instead of actually fixing the installer. There is a simple fix that needs to be performed in order to create a bootable macOS 10.12 USB installer, but I don't recall the exact details. I know the fix has been mentioned on these forums a few times over the last year or two.

I followed everything after using the Partition image mapper also tried clover boot disc creator when I check the USB in Windows theres only clover in the USB no installer same when I reboot the computer I see the clover but there is no installer option. Please help

If you want to use this USB installer with newer Macs as they are released, you'll want to periodically re-download new Catalina installers and make new install drives. Apple rolls support for newer hardware into new macOS point releases as they come out, so this will help keep your install drive as universal and versatile as possible.

The command will erase the disk and copy the install files over. Give it some time, and your volume will soon be loaded up with not just the macOS installer but also an external recovery partition that may come in handy if your hard drive dies and you're away from an Internet connection. If you would like to create an install drive for a macOS version other than Catalina, just tweak the paths above to refer to Mojave or High Sierra instead.

MacOS hasn't shipped as a bootable disk for a number of years now. While more and more software solutions are moving to download-only, there are times when you need a physical copy. It's especially inconvenient when you need a running Mac to access the Mac store in order to download macOS. What do you do if your Mac crashed and becomes unbootable? That's when you might need a bootable USB drive. It makes fixing or reformatting your faulty system much, much easier.

DiskMaker X: When you launch the application, it will try to find the downloaded macOS or OS X installers program on your Mac. And you just need to follow its on-screen instructions to create a bootable USB drive by clicking a few buttons. 2ff7e9595c
