However, I'm struggling to get a basic installation set up. There's a great tutorial on how to get a very simple setup working. But it's not quite there yet. It still won't compile for me, and I haven't figured out why. I'm on the latest Linux release (16.04), and I downloaded the newest X-Plane release from the website. From the article linked above: 1. Install X-Plane Download and install the latest version of X-Plane. Go to the X-Plane downloads page and download the latest installer. 2. Extract the ISO Download the latest ISO from the downloads page. Rename it to x-plane-15-0-66-linux-x86.iso. Burn the ISO to a disc using the tool of your choice. 3. Install with the new ISO Start your computer, and when it's booted, switch to the console and run sudo dpkg -i x-plane-15-0-66-linux-x86.deb. 4. Add the X-Plane data directory This is done in X-Plane's application menu, Add-ons > Installation. Follow the instructions there to install the X-Plane data directory. This should bring up a little bar showing the different available skins. Press Enter and X-Plane will be installed. 5. Install the latest version This is done in X-Plane's application menu, Add-ons > Manage Add-Ons. Follow the instructions there to install the latest version. That's it. After a restart, you should have a very basic working X-Plane installation. The tutorial is much more complete than this.
